Having attended the groundbreaking ceremony on 18th of March, 2017, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, the landmark of the straits.
The bridge, holding the record of having the longest mid-span, has such a remarkable feature that the 2023-kilometer span symbolizes the year 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye’s foundation.
1915 Çanakkale Bridge will enable the integration of highway transportation projects into the sea, rail and air travel systems in the Aegean and Marmara Regions, the most populous and most developed part of Turkiye. It will reduce the distance to the commercial markets and will further help the development of Çanakkale’s economy, by increasing the accessibility to its cultural, historical and natural richness.
