Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), which has inreased number of international students in
the last 3 years, has record numer of applications in international student registrations.
ÇOMU International Student Office Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Aşkın Koyuncu stated that they gave great
importance to the promotion of ÇOMÜ in the international arena and especially in the Balkan
countries and mentioned that ÇOMÜ is proceeding rapidly towards becoming one of the universities
preferred by foreign students.
55% increase in applicants
For 2018-2019 Academic Year, a total of 950 quotas were allocated for 109 international programs
for the international students, Koyuncu said that 60% of them are from Balkan countries, 20% from
EU countries and 20% from other countries. In addition, the number of international students who
applied to ÇOMÜ this year reached a record level with a 55% increase compared to the previous
year.
Koyuncu stated that "This year, 13,857 students from 108 different countries, including 1,224 from
the Balkan countries, applied to ÇOMÜ for college education, and 660 students were entitled to
enroll in the first place," He also added that a total of 274 international students graduated and
1,060 foreign students are continuing their education.
